Even if they got it on the ballot, would it win? The poll data I've sen suggest that it wouldn't. I almost wanted them to get it on the ballot to see it fail.

Really.

I would frankly have supported any procedural loophole that would have allowed the leadership to kill this measure, but I'm much happier that it died on a straight up-and-down vote in the legislature. The bozos can still complain that their vote was thwarted, but at least now they have hundreds of individual legislators to blame and cannot as easily claim that a star chamber has denied them their constitutional rights.
